It's been a while...

There's a bumper sticker I came across years ago that says something like "Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans"! While that philosophy is considerably more fatalistic than I would subscribe to, sometimes it seems that there's an element of truth to it.

The last couple of months have been hectic, and blogging has not been on the priority list. I grabbed a few days in Pretoria again, over Easter, and had an amazing time with Theo, Brenda and Caleb. The Easter celebrations were particularly meaningful. We managed to get to a few caches, including a return to the site of my first geocaching adventures (the Groenkloof nature reserve in the centre of Pretoria) for a couple of FTFs (FTF = First to Find, i.e. being the first cacher to discover a new cache).

Our caches in the Eastern Cape have both been found a few times each (see the blog entry for 3 February below), and people seem to be enjoying the extra effort and the fairly special locations (if not the homicidal flying fish!).

Still no news from the Fulbright selection process (which I am taking as good news - if they were going to reject my application, I think I would have heard by now). I'm off to Portugal for a conference in two weeks time, and plan to get going with the sabbatical plans in earnest when I get back from that. Hopefully, Portugal might yield a cache or two too!

Hopefully, it won't be another two months before I get a chance to ramble some more here!
